The Frick Collection, located on New York City’s Upper East Side, is an internationally recognized museum and research center. The Frick is one of the U.S.’s preeminent fine arts museums, with many priceless works in its collection, focusing on Old Masters paintings and numerous examples of European sculpture and fine furniture. In addition to its permanent collection, The Frick hosts small, focused temporary exhibits.
The Frick Collection wanted to Be Seen. Having been a fixture on Manhattan’s Museum Mile since the 1930’s, they saw a need to expand from their normal audience base, and they had the perfect exhibit, and image, to do so. A special traveling exhibit of a group of works from Dutch masters, including the famous “Girl with a Pearl Earring” by Johannes Vermeer, was coming for a three month stint at the end of 2013 and the beginning of 2014. This special collection traveled on loan from the Mauritshuis Art Museum in The Hague, Netherlands, which has not lent this large a body of work from its holdings in almost thirty years. Using WindowPoster™ Displays, PMD blanketed Manhattan with the striking image of “The Girl”, where it was seen in ubiquity, by millions of New Yorkers and its many tourists.
