Stuck at Home? Here’s Some Good News.

We could all use some good news. In fact, … we NEED the good news. We’re in our first month working from home over here at PMD, and every day, we all read the headlines or watch press conferences, full of increasingly bad news and unbelievable reports. We are drowning in COVID-19 coverage, with no end in sight. Thankfully, many of PMD’s friends and clients are providing an escape while we’re stuck inside.

Smithsonian Tours Our friends at the Smithsonian National Museum of American History have virtual tours of their current exhibits. From the Butterfly Pavilion to the Objects of Wonder, there’s definitely something new to discover. Our favorite: The Hope Diamond and the David H. Koch Hall of Human Origins. Click here to tour the museum.

Night Magic at Studio 54 The Brooklyn Museum is currently closed, but the music lives on forever. The Brooklyn Museum has shared their playlist for their brand new Studio 54 exhibit. From Gloria Gaynor to CHIC, this playlist has everything to get you dancing the night away, without having to deal with a velvet rope. Stream the playlist here.

COVID-19 Q&A with Dr. Fauci and Steph Curry Sure, it’s likely not as exciting as watching Steph Curry hit a 30-foot jump shot, but the Golden State Warrior likely made the biggest impact of his career when he interviewed Dr. Fauci live on Instagram. Reaching over 50,000 concurrent viewers, Dr. Fauci and Curry got down to the facts, including the importance of social distancing and the timeline for the return of NBA games. Watch the interview here.

Love from BAM While the Brooklyn Academy of Music is dark, they continue to be active and committed to connecting with artists and audiences. Diving into the Leon Levy BAM Digital Archive, BAM is bringing performances, events, and interviews from their archives. Additionally, in partnership with Magnoila Pictures, BAM is offering new films as a virtual theatrical experience, all from the comfort of your own home. Find the constantly growing schedule here.

Some Good News John Krasinski, best known for playing Jim Halpert on NBC’s The Office, is back behind a desk — this time, on his YouTube channel dedicated to sharing good news. Kransinki’s online ‘newscast’ “Some Good News” includes a few heartwarming, good stories that people are looking for right now. Of course, there are interviews with special guests and surprises. In the second episode, the original cast of Hamilton, including PMD friend Okieriete Onaodowan, surprised a 9-year old fan. Check that out here!

Other things we’ve been enjoying while at home:
The daily ‘Thank You‘ to essential workers from New Yorkers.
The boss who turned herself into a potato during a virtual meeting.
Streaming performances from Alvin Ailey.
Club Quarantine with D’Nice. Seriously. Put it in your calendar.
Fill out the U.S. Census!
